Speech and Language Therapist/Audiologist

B.A. Speech and Hearing Therapy

I am a dually qualified Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologist all the way from sunny South Africa.

After completing my degree, I worked at a government hospital, where I managed the speech and audiology department independently. I have managed a varied caseload ranging from neonates to adults and geriatrics, in both speech therapy and audiology. Being dually qualified, I have a unique set of skills. Due to my second qualification in the field of audiology, I have experience working with children with Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD) and the hearing impaired population.

I also have a great deal of experience working with the adult population. I have worked with adults who have suffered neurological incidents such as strokes and traumatic brain injury and their consequent impairments, namely: expressive and/or receptive language impairments, swallowing and feeding difficulties, speech impairments and cognitive impairments.

I have been on further training in the areas of: Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), “Speech Motor Learning” (SML) programme for Apraxia, Hands on Autism (training incorporating principles of PECS, TEAACH, Makaton and AAC) and management of the child with Cerebral Palsy.

I am outgoing, extraverted, enthusiastic, hard working and extremely passionate about my vocation. I am thrilled to be joining the Chatterbox team and will expand upon the current services offered at Chatterbox, to include individual and group therapy sessions for adults experiencing a wide range of speech, language, cognitive and swallowing related impairments.
