Initial assessment and consultations

Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy

Both assessment and therapy sessions are closely tailored to the needs of the individual and we aim to create a fun and safe atmosphere to learn and develop communication and literacy skills.
The speech and language therapist or occupational therapist will first take a detailed case history of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the reason for referral, a variety of assessment tools may be used to build up a complete picture of their speech and language skills. These may include formal standardised assessments, informal games and observation. The therapist will then discuss the assessment findings with you, so that a treatment programme can be agreed. Assessment may take more than one session, depending on the age and/or the specific needs of the child.

Our Early Childhood Teacher is available to meet with you to discuss the educational needs and preferences for your child. This usually combines meetings with parents before meeting your child.
For children attending our Playschool, parent/teacher conferences are arranged once a quarter.
