I have walked a winding road in the therapy world, in terms of experiences, training and cultures! I trained in South Africa as an Occupational Therapist and worked for a decade in rural and peri-urban state hospitals, doing both clinical work and management at a hospital and provincial level.
In addition to clinical work in my home country, I have worked in Cameroon, Kenya, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Uganda doing applied research consultations, designing and evaluating programmes with a focus on early childhood intervention in the community context.
I have rather diverse clinical interests within Occupational Therapy and as a result have done speciality training in several fields. I happily shift between my love for early intervention with neonates and supporting parents in fostering attachment, bonding and development as well as supporting children following socio-emotional trauma and my other passions of hand therapy and women’s oncology rehabilitation. I have also consulted in the medicolegal field for both state and private.
Designing and running workshops for therapists and teachers and training therapy students lets me harness my strengths and I get excited about sharing knowledge and collaborating to meet the goal of providing better health and wellbeing. Currently I also co-teach a yoga therapy course for children with challenges.
As for me, I am a water baby, practice yoga and love animals, cowrie shells and adventures! My design background keeps me creatively reimaging spaces and above all, I am passionate about learning and expanding my knowledge.
