Hi, I’m Jess!
I’m a speech therapist originally from South Africa with a passion for what I do and a desire to see every child find their voice in this world.
After completing my degree at the University of Cape Town, I worked in a government hospital for a year running the speech therapy department. I then moved to a paediatric private practice where I gained invaluable experience in a variety of different areas.
I have experience working wih children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), Dyslexia, fluency disorders, Receptive and Expressive language disorders and Speech Sound Disorders.
I am especially interested in areas of motor speech, speech sound disorders, literacy and language disorders. I think that every child deserves to be seen, heard and valued – my job is to remove any barriers to that being achieved!
My focus as a therapist is on connection and child-centered therapy, ensuring positive and fun learning experiences that increase both confidence and competence.
I have further training in PROMPT, DiR Floortime and Makaton and have attended workshops in a variety of different areas from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to executive functioning to literacy development.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy songwriting, reading, running and meaningful conversations with friends. I look forward to meeting you in person sometime soon!
